When word first leaked online a few months ago about an upcoming Foamposite Pro Retro featuring an Electric Green base, understandably there was an equal mix of excitement and curiosity. Many wondered aloud if Nike would simply be playing off of the huge success of the “Kryptonate” Foamposite Lite from 2009, which, despite its energy success, was practically impossible to own outside of the release of just 48 pairs at the Harlem House Of Hoops.

A recent line sheet presentation leak shares a pretty solid look at the Electric Green/ Black Foamposite Pro Retro, slated to release during the first quarter of 2011 with a $190 retail price. No exact release date as of now, but they’re set for a limited release in March.

Apple announces ‘iPad’ touchscreen tablet

After months of rampant speculation, Apple Wednesday announced a touchscreen tablet computer, the "iPad" for consumers who want to take their movies, TV shows, music, games and reading with them, be it around the house or on the go.

"We want to kick off 2010 with a truly revolutionary and magical product," CEO Steve Jobs told a packed audience at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco on Wednesday.

"So far it really looks like an oversized iPod Touch, which is great, but if that's it, price will be paramount," said Avi Greengart, Current Analysis analyst, blogging from the event itself for Reuters news service.

The wireless device can be used with Wi-Fi, as well as run on AT&T's 3G, or third-generation, wireless network. AT&T has been the exclusive carrier of the iPhone in the United States since its release in 2007, and some were hoping that Apple's new tablet would also work with other carriers' networks, including Verizon Wireless.

AT&T will charge $29.99 a month for "unlimited use" and $14.99 a month for up to 250 megabytes, said Jobs. There will be no contract with AT&T required for the plans, he said.
The iPad weighs about 1.5 pounds, is 0.5 inch thin, has a 9.7-inch display and should have a battery life of 10 hours, Jobs said. It uses what he called Apple's own 1GHz A4 chip, and flash memory, ranging from 16 to 64 gigabytes. The tablet has YouTube in high-definition built in to the iPad and Apple's online iTunes Store, which will add an "iBooks" for purchase.
"Well, it's official. Apple is competing with Amazon," said Ross Rubin, director of industry analysis for The NPD Group research firm. Apple will use the "ePub" format, "joining Sony, Google and Barnes & Noble, he said.

The tablet uses multi-touch finger gestures and swipes like the iPhone, but the iPad's "larger screen requires less swiping to navigate," said Rubin. "That's a big plus from the iPhone."
Several uses of the tablet were shown during its unveiling, including e-mail, games, video and reading The New York Times on it. Martin Nisenholtz of The Times, on stage, said that the newspaper’s iPhone app “has been downloaded 3 million times,” and that the company wanted to “create something special for the iPad … We think we’ve captured the essence of reading the newspaper” on it.

Apple's new product comes at a time when e-readers, like Amazon's Kindle and others from Barnes & Noble and Sony are on the market, with more coming this year from companies such as Samsung and the Hearst Corp.

Last year, about 3 million e-readers were sold. Estimates are another 6 million will be sold in 2010 according to the Yankee Group. The Kindle, which has a 6-inch screen and sells for $259, has the bulk of the e-reader sales.

"There are about 6 million people who are gearing up this year to buy an e-reader. And they’re going to spend between $250 and $700 on it," said James McQuivey, Forrester Research principal analyst. "They are already people who care about media, and who are willing to spend money on media."

"So, if you can say to them, 'Gee you can spend $350 on a dedicated book reader, or you’re going to get this amazing Apple device at twice the price, but with the ability to do much more than read books,' " then Apple's tablet has a good chance of success, he said.

While many of the tablet's functions — Web surfing, movie watching, music listening — can be handled on netbooks, lighter and relatively inexpensive laptops, Apple isn't viewing its tablet as a laptop without a keyboard, McQuivey said. "Apple sees this as a personal media experience that they can create."

The tablet's "most revolutionary impact is on the way people consume media in the home," he said. "You take it from room to room, you dock it next to your bed, it becomes your alarm clock. You dock in the living room, it’s a photo frame and a video server for your TV; you dock it in the kitchen, and it displays your recipes for you."

'iPad' a disappointment Jan. 27: Apple unveils its highly anticipated 'iPad' but it's leaving some analysts less than impressed. CNBC discusses the new device.

Other major companies are coming out with their own tablets, with many of them announced at the Consumer Electronics Show earlier this month.

HTC and Google are reportedly jointly working on a tablet. HP and Dell are each planning their own tablets. Microsoft may be too, although during CEO Steve Ballmer's speech at the Consumer Electronics Show, he shared an HP slate prototype, not Microsoft's talked-about "Courier" tablet (Msnbc.com is a joint venture of NBC Universal and Microsoft.)
Pen-based tablet computers have been tried over the past decade with little consumer success, although they have made inroads in the business world.

Strong sales of Apple's device are not guaranteed, especially with a still-shaky economy and netbooks — with prices of between $300 and $400 — continuing to be popular.
What may help Apple, said McQuivey, is that the company "isn’t thinking" of tablets as "selling laptops without keyboards," as other manufacturers do; "Apple sees this as a personal media experience that they can create."

ChangeWave Research, which surveyed 3,314 consumers this month, said there is "strong consumer interest" in an Apple tablet, and that 75 percent of those who are interested say they'd be "willing to pay $500 or more," and 37 percent say they would pay more than $700.

Shopping site Retrevo.com's survey of 500 consumers found that 70 percent of them said they will not spend more than $700 for an Apple tablet. Also, 44 percent said they would not buy such a device if it requires a monthly data plan for Internet access.

Right before his tragic death, news came out that DJ AM had been working with Nike on a Dunk sneaker collection. Today we can show you some detailed images of one of them. The Nike Dunk High Premium Quickstrike “DJ AM” comes in a black/red colorway with reflective 3M accents. The red comes in regular premium leather and the black comes in patent leather. According to Gentry Humphrey, Jordan Brand will not release an all white 25th Anniversary Collection next year. Gentry told Sneaker Freaker that those sample images were leaked ironically by Chris Paul.

With that said, what’s the deal with this Air Jordan 2 retro that just hit the web? The white base is clean and simple, and the reflective 3M material adds pop.Although we don’t have confirmed release details, word is this Air Jordan 2 will release sometime in 2010. Nothing is confirmed just yet, but an early look is always nice.

Sneak peeks of Nike’s halloween lineups have popped up lately, and we covered the Air Max 90 “Day of the Dead” recently, too. Of course it was only natural that one of Nike’s favorite silhouettes got a Halloween treatment, courtesy of the “Day of the Dead” Dunk.

Expect these just after Halloween, strangely, along with the aforementioned AM90s and a third Nike. These use a black midsole and mostly-black upper, offset with a bright green swoosh and liner. The remainder is made up of a purple and black Halloween print.

Way to ruin Taylor Swift's big night at the VMA awards.

When Taylor was on stage making her acceptance speech for winning Best Female Video award, Kanye ran out onto the stage and took the microphone from her to give a shout-out to Beyonce, one of the other nominees.

"Taylor, I'm really happy for you. I'll let you finish," Kanye told an obviously stunned Taylor. "But Beyonce had one of the best videos of all time ... one of the best videos of all time!"

The camera showed a stunned Beyonce in the audience, mouth open in disbelief at what she was seeing. And poor Taylor stood by speechless before some in the audience began to boo Kanye as he left the stage.

You know, I think he made a good point, but he chose the wrong moment to make it.

In a super-classy gesture, when Beyonce won Video of the Year for "Single Ladies" toward the end of the evening, she said she remembered what it was like being nominated for a VMA at age 17 with Destiny's Child. Then she called Taylor back to the stage, saying "I'd like Taylor to come out and have her moment."

And when Taylor came out on the stage, she joked, "Maybe we could try this again," to loud applause.

2nd Annual NC Sneaker Summit !!

So for over a year now, people have been wondering: "when's the next event gonna be?" "why's it taking so long?!" "I wanna participate..how can I set up shop this year?"

So the blue print is under way.

I will keep updating this site as much as I can and keep everyone up to date on the events that will lead up to the official date of this event.

The only things I can tell you all for now are the following:

1. The event will be in Charlotte, NC
2. The event will be in a 15,000 sq feet area versus the 2500 sq ft we had last year lol
3. Will be plenty of tables for people to display and sell
4. We will need EVERYONE'S help by word of mouth for the event!!
5. Kooley High and Kaze will most likely be able to perform once again
6. We need to raise money for the event. PLEASE help by donating to the cause!!
7. We are working on a pre-showcase party in raleigh, and possibly an after party in Charlotte after the event to raise money.

AIR JORDAN HALL OF FAME EDITION I

Apart of the recently released "Hall Of Fame" pack.

My favorite out of the pack.

The pack itself is a horrible concept in my opinion.

But I'll let you be the judge of that.

The final part of the Jordan Hall of Fame pack, joining the Six Rings and the Air Jordan 2009, is yet another Air Jordan I. Finished the same way as its H.o.F. brethren, in black leather and patent with white accents, the Jordan I also features the digital-style numbers that relate in some way to Michael Jordan's career, both on and off the court. (You can see the "32,292" at the ankle collar, which represents the number of total points he scored in the NBA.) They're scheduled to drop around the weekend of September 10th, which is when Jordan is due to be inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield, MA. More flicks after the jump.
